DHI Istanbul
What is DHI?
Over 85% of men have hair thinning by the age of 50. Over 50% of women will also experience a significant amount of hair loss in their lifetime. Several types of DHI Istanbul transplant surgeries have been developed to help regrow lost hair. During FUT, a surgeon cuts a strip of hair from the back of the scalp and extracts individual hair follicles. During FUE, a surgeon removes the follicles directly from the scalp. In both surgeries, the follicles are implanted in the bald parts of the scalp. Direct hair implantation is a modification of the FUE technique created by the DHI Global Medical Group company. In FUE, a surgeon manually cuts the channels in the scalp before implanting the hair follicles. During DHI Istanbul, they use a specialized pen-shaped tool that can do both at the same time.
How direct hair implant works
DHI Istanbul transplant is a modified version of the FUE hair implant and follows a similar procedure. The surgeon will remove the hair follicles from one part of the scalp, usually the back of the head, and implant them in the bald areas.
Here’s what you can typically expect:
-The surgeon will shave your head and apply local anesthesia to numb it.
-The surgeon will extract the hair follicles from the back of the head using an instrument with a fine tip.
-The hair follicles will be loaded into a pen-shaped instrument and implanted in the bald part of the scalp.
-The surgeon will apply an antibiotic cream and apply a bandage to all sites.
FUE and DHI interventions generally take around 8 hours to complete, but the exact time can vary depending on the number of hair follicles to be transplanted. It takes 12 to 18 months to see the full results of the surgery.
Who needs a DHI procedure?
The following features also make you a good candidate for hair transplantation:
-Age. People who get hair implants should be over 25 years old. Hair loss before this age is more unpredictable.
-Diameter of the hair. People with thicker hair usually perform better than people with thinner hair. Thicker hair gives each hair follicle greater coverage.
– Donor hair density. Patients with a hair density of less than 40 follicles per square centimeter at the donor site are considered poor candidates for hair transplantation.
-Hair colour. People with light hair or hair color close to skin tone often get the best results.
-Expectations. People with realistic expectations are more likely to be satisfied with their results.
