Turkey became the world capital of hair transplantation because of its surgeons, not its geography. Istanbul Care now brings that same team to Punta Cana — a short flight from home instead of a transatlantic one.
The surgeons, not the postcode
Hair transplantation is a manual craft: the result follows the team performing it. The surgeons operating in Punta Cana are the same ones who built Istanbul Care's reputation in Istanbul.
A short flight, not a transatlantic one
Punta Cana is roughly two hours from Miami, three and a half from New York and four from Toronto, in a time zone you already live in. That matters most on the way home, when you are travelling with a fresh recipient area.
A quarter of the US price
The same procedure runs $8,000 to $15,000 at a US clinic, usually quoted per graft so the final bill only appears at the end. Here it is one number — $4,090 — agreed in writing before you book a flight, whatever the graft count turns out to be.
Recovery somewhere worth being
The days after a transplant are quiet ones: no sun on the scalp, no swimming, no exertion. Doing that in a Caribbean resort rather than a city hotel does not change the medicine, but it changes the week.
What $4,090 covers

Both techniques used in Punta Cana are follicular unit extraction methods: grafts are taken one by one from the donor area, with no strip and no linear scar. What differs is how the recipient site is opened and how the graft is placed. The choice is made at consultation, based on your hair characteristics and the area being covered.
FUE
The is harder and holds a sharper V-shaped edge, so the surgeon can open micro-channels sized precisely to the graft. Because the blade glides with less vibration and tissue damage, patients typically notice faster healing: scabs shed sooner and redness fades within days rather than weeks. The tighter channels also allow denser packing.
DHI
DHI — direct hair implantation — places extracted grafts straight into the scalp with a Choi implanter pen, skipping the pre-made channel step. The pen is a fine, spring-loaded needle that opens the channel and sets the graft in a single motion. That one-step placement is what makes DHI the preferred technique for hairline work: the surgeon controls the exact depth, direction and angle of every follicle.
Which one is better?
Neither is universally better. DHI offers finer control over angle and density, which suits hairline refinement and smaller sessions. FUE covers larger areas in one sitting. The right answer depends on your donor area, the size of the region being covered and the density you are aiming for.
How the trip works
Day 0 — Free hair analysis
Send a few photos of your hairline and crown. The surgeon reviews them and comes back with a graft estimate, the technique they would use and a written price — before you book a flight.
Day 1 — Arrival and consultation
You land in Punta Cana (PUJ). Blood work and an in-person consultation the same day or the next morning, where the hairline is drawn and agreed with you before anything begins.
Day 2 — The procedure
A full day at the clinic, typically six to eight hours depending on graft count, under local anaesthesia. You are awake, and you can talk, eat and take breaks.
Day 3–4 — First wash and review
The dressing comes off, the first wash is done for you, and you are shown how to repeat it at home. The surgeon checks the grafts before clearing you to fly.
Month 1–12 — Growth
Shedding around week three is expected and normal. New growth starts around month three, and the final result settles between months nine and twelve.

Questions people actually ask
Tap a question to open the answer.
Why would I go to the Dominican Republic for a hair transplant?
Because of who is operating, not where. This is the Turkish surgical team behind Istanbul Care, working three to four hours from most US hubs instead of across the Atlantic.
How much does a hair transplant in Punta Cana cost?
A flat $4,090, all-inclusive, agreed in writing before you book anything. There is no per-graft surcharge.
How does that compare with having it done in the US?
US clinics generally charge $8,000 to $15,000, usually quoted per graft, so a 3,000-graft case can land well above the first estimate.
How long do I need to stay?
Four nights is enough: arrival and consultation, the procedure, the first wash and review, then travel home.
Which technique is used?
FUE or DHI, chosen at consultation based on your hair characteristics and the area being covered. Both are follicular unit extraction — no strip, no linear scar.
Is it safe to fly home a few days after surgery?
Yes. The surgeon reviews the grafts before clearing you to travel and gives you a short list of in-flight precautions.
Can I go in the sun or swim afterwards?
Not for the first stretch. Direct sun on the recipient area and pool or sea water are both off the list. The clinic gives you exact timings at your review.
What if I need a second session later?
Discuss it at the consultation. Density expectations and whether a second pass is likely are set out honestly before you commit.

6 Months After My Hair Transplant
Six months after a hair transplant, the progress can be exciting to look back on. For patients considering Istanbul Care Clinic, seeing genuine before-and-after photos and hearing about the recovery process can make a real difference.
A useful six-month review should cover the initial consultation, the treatment experience, communication with the clinic, and visible hair growth. It’s also worth remembering that final results can take longer than six months to develop.
